Nigel Stagg To Be New BT Wholesale Chief Executive15 August 2011 External Link: www.bt.com Stagg takes over from Sally Davis, who has led BT Wholesale for the last four years and who is now stepping down for personal reasons. Davis will remain with BT until the end of October to ensure there is a smooth handover of responsibilities. BT Wholesale supplies services to fixed and mobile network operators as well as ISPs and telecoms resellers in the UK. It provides a broad range of voice, broadband and data communications services including managed network services where it provides other companies with much broader support in the background. The business also supports the network needs of global broadcasting organisations and – through close collaboration with Global Telecoms Markets in BT Global Services – it helps to support the needs of communication provider customers worldwide. Over the last three years BT Wholesale has built a successful managed networked services business for fixed and mobile communications providers. These providers have different requirements, from fully managed network outsourcing for operators with significant network assets to white label managed services designed to help companies with limited or no infrastructure. Stagg’s task will be to build on the foundations laid by Davis and to ensure that the business – which had revenue last year of £4,210 million – continues to underpin and support the vibrant and competitive telecoms market in the UK. Stagg said: “BT Wholesale is at the heart of BT underpinning many of the services that businesses and residential users take for granted. It is a very large business with revenues of more than four billion pounds a year and it supports many of the largest telecoms providers in the UK, including the major mobile companies. “The UK has one of the most competitive landscapes anywhere in the world and BT Wholesale has been at the heart of that success supporting other operators both large and small.” Ian Livingston, BT Chief Executive, said: "Sally has been a key member of our executive team and so I very much regret her departure. She has competing demands on her time however and so I fully respect her decision and would like to thank her for all she has done for BT. Nigel has a wealth of experience at BT and has delivered great results in a variety of roles.”
